Passion... 24h du Mans

The other day, while Jacky Ickx and I were having lunch in a small but very nice Italian restaurant, Jacky told me: “I have just received a magnificent book whose preface, very touching, is written by Jean-Claude Andruet. You absolutely must tell this story on our website!

Our heads in the stars

The gloved hand actuates the starter. Instantly, the V10 responds to the driver’s request. His dull growl resonates behind my back and invades the overheated habitable.
With this simple gesture, Jacky Ickx has just given life to a very old dream: to ride alongside him in a racing car. Which enthusiast did not have this crazy desire?

Street Jacky Ickx

A few months ago, the Collège Saint-Pierre de Jette (Brussels) contacted me because the students wanted to carry out a project: name each corridor of the college as we call the streets of a city. Each corridor would be named after a famous person from Belgium, including Jacky Ickx.

The best sports car driver

This Monday, January 19, 2004, I was the guest of Jacky Ickx and as soon as we met, he proudly gave me the January edition of MOTOR SPORT, the famous and serious British magazine that had just published the results of the top 20 of the greatest sports car drivers.

The Ickx factor

In its February 2004 edition, MOTOR SPORT dedicated an article to the career of Jacky Ickx who began with these words: He had the talent to be World Champion of Formula 1, but did he lack ambition? Adam Cooper speaks to the generous Mr. Ickx.

Off the track

In its edition of February 2004, the French magazine SPORT AUTO published an interview with Jacky Ickx carried out the very morning of our last meeting.

Modena Motorsport Ferrari Track Days 2003

Taking place only two weeks after my release from the hospital, following my heart attack, I did not think I could respond to Jacky Ickx’s invitation to attend the Ferrari Track Days. But at the insistence of my friend Popol, I finally decided to accompany him on the Nurburgring circuit.

Magical day imprinted with nostalgia

During this weekend of May 2004, circumstances led me to go near Monaco. Happy chance, because in a newsletter sent by our favorite webmaster, an information catches my attention: Jacky Ickx will be the race director of the historic GP that takes place the weekend before the F1 GP.

Jacky pays tribute to the restaurant of Les Hunaudières

A warm meeting was held on 26 October 2006 at the Automobile Club de l’Ouest Headquarters, in the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit. This event was instigated by Jacky Ickx, who remains “Mr. Le Mans” for many – Bruno Vandestick, the ACO speaker, recalled that Tom Kristensen still considered the Belgian driver as such -, with the complicity of the ACO and its President, Jean-Claude Plassart, who was also present.

Lord of the race

Rightly considered as the greatest endurance driver in history, Jacky Ickx was also one of the brightest representatives of his generation in Grand Prix.

Historickx

As you all know, it was on December 10, at the Euro Racing Show in Luxembourg, that Clovis’ book dedicated to Jacky Ickx, HISTORICKX, was unveiled.
On 13 December, the official presentation of the book took place in the Porsche Belgium showroom.
